Danish Author and Journalist
Carsten Jensen is a Danish author and journalist. Jensen is graduate of Mag. Art. in Literary Studies from the University of Copenhagen in 1981. He started his career as a columnist the Danish newspaper, Politiken and has written a number of socially critical books. His latest book, released in 2021, is titled Øvelser i avskjed (Exercise in Goodbyes).
One month before Corona hit the world, Carsten Jensen’s stepson, Raph, died. He was only 25 years old. The rest of the world has a pandemic to deal with and people are experiencing a loss of safety and meaning. Carsten Jensen finds a parallel to his own grief. Øvelser i avskjed is a book of parting, both on a personal and global level. Both grief and pandemic are unknown waters, but they have loneliness, reflection, and a sense of loss in common. Moving beyond these limitations requires new questions and new answers. Øvelser i avskjed can be a great place to start.
